bright & bold

with a month full of weddings imminent - i have had to seriously contemplate & calculate wardrobe. unfortunately, 4 new dresses are not an option.  whilst perusing the selections i noticed that i kept coming back to one thing.  short, bright & bold cocktail dresses.   styled simply with a chunky, but elegant, earring and the spring staple of nude pumps.

decisions, decisions....

Louis Vuitton - Mon Monogram

It has arrived!  Straight from the Louis Vuitton factory in France - my very own Mon Monogram Keepall 55.

An investment piece that will take me through the many weekend trips I am sure to have throughout life.  Looking chic whilst traveling is always difficult, but I am determined to not let down my luggage.  It is perfect in size and already has forced me to edit my vacation ensembles, ensuring that quality always wins over quantity (a constant struggle)

Now I can finally looking forward to packing...

Keepall 55 w/ shoulder strap.  mon monogram in fuschia

Thank you for spoiling me endlessly Dad. <3

Guest Post: The View from behind the Velvet Rope at NYFW Nightlife

From my fabulous sister.  Jealousy sets in right about now.....

The View from behind the Velvet Rope at NYFW Nightlife

I am a lucky girl and get to say that I actually LOVE what I do.  Working in PR for Syndicate Media Group I have been exposed to some pretty amazing events through our luxury clientele.

I started off my second NYFW on Saturday night at the new bar Mister H, located in the swank Mondrian SoHo (opening on March 1) for Prabal Gurung’s after party. It was 20 degrees and I was ill equipped in a black shift dress and heeled booties at the door - not my definition of fun, but with Mia Moretti spinning the party I quickly realized that dancing would be the best remedy for the chill. Check out this Refinery29 post about it to see the notables.

*My favorite was J.Crew’s Jenna Lyons’ who was my BFF for a hot sec as we gushed over girl power and how we love being tall

Sunday night was a low key dinner at the Penthouse at Hudson Hotel hosted by Tara Hoffman. Chloe Sevigny was supposed to show but sadly didn’t….Notables: Arden Wohl, Tara Subkoff, Waris Ahluwalia, Natasha Lyonne

Fast forward to Tuesday and we have the mother of all 2011 NYFW parties. VMan hosts its February Cover Party at the Mondrian SoHo which also doubled as the unofficial celebration of Alexander Wang’s SoHo store opening. This door was not as peachy for me, as I had my OWN bodyguard to keep guests from trampling me over.  I lived but my ego was a little bruised by some harsh words via party crashers. My job at the door is to spot all notables and VIPs to ensure that they get in without having to wait. Guess what? EVERYONE in NYC thinks they are a VIP, haha - NOT the case.

Nevertheless, a bumpin' party & good times by all. Highlights include:
-Kanye West rolling up in a silver Maybach with mirrored aviators, leather jacket, and infamous pout.
-Kanye asking our interns to get him fried chicken. Still not sure where they found it at 2am …
-$5,000.00 worth of $1 dollar bills spinning around the dancefloor. Think giant snow globe.
-Having a BFF moment with Brad from Rachel Zoe as he paraded in and out of the party.

day dreaming: CANCUN

since i have already (in my imagination) powered through the freezing temps of NYC for fashion week, i figured i might as well set my sights on something that i will actually be attending. rixfam vacay to cancun, so classy - i know. i wasn't exactly sure how to dress for a trip with my sis to Senor Frogs (joking...maybe?) but i know exactly what i would be rocking poolside...

From top to bottom: Chloe High-waisted bandeau bikini, Missoni Mare Sirmione chrochet-knit strapless playsuit, Tory Burch grosgrain fedora, Retrosun vintage Gucci sunglasses, Henri Bendel disturbed stripe beach towel & LL Bean boat and tote bag

OH YEAH...and this day dream/perfect poolside ensemble wouldn't be complete without a margarita.

TGIF friends!

day dreaming: NYFW

so i got to thinking....since i can't actually be at fashion week - why not just pretend? what shows would i want to see, people i'd want to watch and outfits i'd want to wear.  so here we go, a run down of my imaginary NYFW weekend.

most importantly outfit:

accessories by (top to bottom): Oliver Peoples Daddy B sunglasses, Alexander Wang Lia Sling studded leather messenger bag, Daisy Knights 22-karat gold-vermeil skull stud earrings, Hermes Kelly Double Tour bracelet & Rolex Datejust watch
clothing: J Brand Agnes low-rise cropped twill pants, DVF Striped chiffon shirt, Givenchy Leather wedge boots

bundled up in: Louis Vuitton Leopard Spray Stole, Yves Saint Laurent Wide Suede Belt, HHN by Haute Hippie Mongolian Vest

Now picture all these things together: accessories, clothes & bundled.  viola, that's an outfit.

shows i would be sitting front row (naturally) at:

and people i would be stalking:
Andrew Mukamal
Lauren Santo Domingo

le ruse

a ruse it was! i was very much looking forward to the Oberhofer & Tapes N Tapes show at the Rock N Roll Hotel last night mainly to hear my favorite t.n.t. song "Le Ruse", but they didn't play it. color me disappointed, but it was a great show none the less.

Oberhofer is awesome and they were totally into it.  I can so appreciate a band that really puts it all out there dancing and jumping, etc.  check out "Awy Frm U"

after i got over my initial disappointment, i decided to make "conquest" my favorite song of the evening.

i also was not disappointed in Rock N Roll Hotel.  first show at this venue, other than going to it just as a bar and it had great energy.  nothing better than when the opening bands join the crowd after their sets and hang out in small venues like this.
