grandfather mountain

every once in awhile i ditch the city life and fully embrace the great outdoors.  stiletto's and pink aside - i love to hike and enjoy time spent in the mountains.

knowing that i was going to get my fair share of party & cocktail dresses later on in the evening at Jessie & Doug's wedding - we piled in for a fun day at grandfather mountain.

loved the retro sign we saw driving up the mountain! i made RJ hang out the sun-roof of my car, prom style, to take this picture.

we hiked up the bridge trail to the swinging bridge.  the bridge no longer swings, which is fine by me!  swing or no swing - the views were breathtaking.

me & amanda

rj & i. we made it to the top!

the crew!

also on grandfather mountain are some animal attractions.  i'm not one for the furry creatures, but it was pretty cool to see these fellas up close and personal.

mildred was a hit

otters are weird

cougars are huge & can jump 18 ft in the air.

what a beautiful weekend. now back to the muggy swamp that is the district of columbia.
