LA wedding 9.25.11

back from the west coast once again.  it's rainy here and i'm still on a different time zone -- california, why must you tease me with your weather.

another whirlwind trip but this one was all play and no work...woop woop!

we had a blast and i would have loved to stay another day soaking up the sun at Terrenea.  i'll let the photos do the talking.

pre-wedding:
kicking off the weekend the right way with cocktails on the veranda at Terrenea.  gorgeous ocean views and good company.

rehearsal:
i love that maggie & sean chose to have a casual, italian-style late lunch for their rehersal.  it was perfect mix of family, friends and delicious food.  i was so happy to be able to get another use out of my silk JCrew collection romper.

getting ready:
maggie was SO sweet to invite me to hang in the bridal suite and get ready with all of the bridesmaids.  this is always a favorite part of any wedding for me.  spending time with your friends, hair & make-up, and a bit of champagne - a girl's dream day!

and finally the big sha-bang!  the "marine layer" mist lifted right in time for a gorgeous outdoor ceremony. it was so special and Sean's dad performed the ceremony.  my tear ducts started swelling when they read a poem by E.E. cummings and a quote from the movie When Harry Met Sally.

current obsessions

it's been non-stop around here lately.  lots of travel & work with hardly any down-time in between.  despite the hectic schedule (and my lack of blogging) the obsessions have been brewing up in my cranium.

and so they go:

STYLE

via Vogue
I cannot get enough Emmanuelle Alt, the current queen bee over at French Vogue.  Her tomboy chic attire just sends me through the roof - the definition of effortless chic.  If you haven't read the profile on her in September's issue of American Vogue, do so immediately.  Can you say girl crush? Oui!

via Tom Binns
Tom Binn's jewelry is so beautiful.  The punk pave collection is simple and delicate, but oh so edgy with the mini spikes.  I need this ring to be worn on middle finger ASAP.

EAT

via
Peregrine Espresso.  I love this place.  Their coffee is absolutely delicious - bold and rich, but never bitter.  It is the perfect treat.  I especially love their pedaler service - where they deliver your coffee beans to you for home brewing via bike.

via
Baked Mac 'n Cheese. this isn't really a current obsession, more like perpetual, but ever since we ordered it at Cafe Chloe in San Diego (literally - best food & date ever) I have been dying to re-create and indulge in some mac 'n cheese.

MUSIC

we saw them live last week at the Black Cat.  seriously good tunes.

via
Black Keys live at Virgin fest fueled my love for the incredibly talented and down right awesome Auerbach. Nothing better than listening to this record on vinyl and relaxing with a good beer in hand.

OTHER

via Tibi Blog
mis-matched, but coordinated, bridesmaids dresses a la Tibi (but of course).  my BESTIE is getting married :)

Swoon.  I love everything in the post.

Off to sunny LA for a beautiful wedding.  Can't wait for all of the laughs, glasses of champagne, and many photo's to come.

arm party - update

ever on my eternal quest for the perfect arm party...i stumbled upon these tough girl chains over the weekend. typically i consider mixing metals a must, but i was drawn to the edgier chains finished in a bright shiny silver.  alas, the quest continue's but i'm pretty happy with the crowd at the party today.

color crush continued

while my closet is reflecting mostly black, white & every shade of grey in between. i am still crushing hard on color-blocking and brights.  can't get enough of the red/hot pink combo these days a la emma stone & sjp.

USCG - CA Production

whoa! hey there friends.  i cannot believe how quickly summer fast forwarded and now is seemingly ending (hello labor day!)

my absence from the blogosphere was due in part to crazy pre-production at the office and then a week and a half spent in LA/San Diego for the big sha-bang.

but i'm BACK and it was a pretty cool experience.  first of all San Diego is probably one of the best climate's i have ever experienced.  literally, there is always warm sun and a cool breeze - none of the humid swamp like stuff we have in DC.  it's perfect for outdoor dining and sitting on a sailboat, two of my favorite things in life.  alas, i was there for work, so while there was some outdoor dining i did not have any relaxing sailboat cruises.

my trip consisted of boats, helicopters, and the open sea with a whole lot of emails and coordination in between.  exhausting is an understatement, but everything turned out great and i am beyond excited to see the new US Coast Guard recruiting commercials finished off and broadcasting nationwide.

looking forward to a relaxing weekend in DC and getting into the fall groove.

luckily - i had a weekend break between meetings in LA and filming in SD.  a visit from this guy and a fun weekend with his sisters was the perfect treat before a long week of production.
